Adapted from IAN, Enclosures & the
April/May 2006 RoHS Directive
                    While the RoHS (Restriction
Trends in of Hazardous Substances)
                    Directive regulates products
                    in the European Union,
Enclosures RoHS compliance is rapidly
                    becoming a de facto global
                    standard that impacts
                    US manufacturers.

The RoHS Directive applies to finished electrical products.
It does not directly regulate components, for example,
electrical enclosures. However, products are assembled
from components and RoHS end-product compliance
necessitates compliance of all constituent components.
Simply put, the enclosure must be RoHS compliant too.

The impact of RoHS will encourage all component
manufacturers to be responsible suppliers of
                    compliant products.
