                     Mix (MC), #1294 Turquoise Mix (A), #1285 Oceanic Mix (B), #1279
                     Potting Soil Mix (C) and #1281 Redwood Mix (D)
                     1 Set (4) double pointed knitting needles (dpn), size 2 (2.50 mm) OR SIZE
                     TO OBTAIN GAUGE
                     3 St markers ­ 1 a different color

                     Tapestry needle

                     GAUGE
                     30 sts = 4"; 40 rnds = 4" in St st
                     TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

                     PATTERN STITCH (Multiple of 4 sts + 1)
                     Row 1 (WS): Purl.
                     Row 2: K2tog, * (k1, yo, k1) all in next st, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, rep from *
                     to last 3 sts, end (k1, yo, k1) all in next st, SSK.
                     Rep these 2 rows for Pat St.

                     STRIPE SEQUENCE
                     * Working in Pat St, work 2 rows MC, 2 rows A, (2 rows MC, 2 rows B)
                     twice, 2 rows MC, 2 rows A, (2 rows MC, 2 rows C) twice, 2 rows MC, 2
                     rows D, (2 rows MC, 2 rows C) twice, rep from * once, more, end on RS ­
                     72 rows total. Bind off.

                     MITTEN (Make 2)
                     Cuff (Worked back and forth in rows): With dpn's, using MC, cast on
                     33 sts. DO NOT turn. Work even in Pat St, following Stripe Sequence until
                     72 rows have been completed, end on Row 2. Change to MC and work
                     Row 1. Bind off knitwise. Sew cast-on and bound-off edges tog forming a
                     tube. Weave in all ends. Turn tube so that edge where yarns were
                     changed is on the top. Sts are picked up along this edge for a neater look
                     to outer edge of cuff.
                     Hand (Worked in the round): With RS facing, using dpn's and B, beg at
                     seam, pick up and k60 sts along edge of cuff where yarns were changed.
                     Mark for beg of rnd with different colored marker and carry marker up.
                     Divide sts evenly on 3 needles (20 sts per needle). Knit 1 rnd. From here,
                     work in St st (k EVERY rnd) with B.
                     Thumb Gusset: Next Rnd: K29, place marker, M1k, k2, M1k, place
                     marker, k29 ­ 62 sts. Knit 3 rnds. Continue to inc 1 st after 1st marker
                     and before 2nd marker in this manner every 4th rnd 8 times more ­ 78 sts
                     (20 sts between markers).
                     Divide for Thumb: Next Rnd: K to 1st marker, sl the next 20 sts to
                     waste yarn for thumb, dropping markers, cast on 2 sts, k29 ­ 60 sts.
                     Work even until hand measures 3/4" less than desired length.
                     Shape Top: Dec Rnd 1: * K3, k2 tog, rep from * around ­ 48 sts. Knit
                     3 rnds.
                     Dec Rnd 2: * K2, k2 tog, rep from * around ­ 36 sts. Knit 3 rnds.

                     Dec Rnd 3: * K1, k2 tog, rep from * around ­ 24 sts. Knit 3 rnds.
                     Dec Rnd 4: * K2 tog, rep from * around ­ 12 sts. Break off yarn leaving
                     an 8" long end. Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts
                     on needles. Pull up tightly and secure.
                     Thumb: Sl 20 ts from waste yarn back onto 3 dpn's and divide sts onto 3
                     needles. Join B and k20, pick up and k1 st before cast-on sts, 2 sts across
                     cast-on sts and 1 st after cast-on sts ­ 24 sts. Divide sts evenly onto 3
                     dpns (8 sts per needle). Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up. Work
                     even in St st until thumb measures 1/2" less than desired length.
                     Dec Rnd: * K2 tog, rep from * around ­ 12 sts. Knit 1 rnd. Rep Dec
                     Rnd once more ­ 6 sts. Break off yarn leaving an 8" long end. Thread
                     end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needles. Pull up
                     tightly and secure.
