RESEARCH INTERESTS
   I am interested in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) as it applies to Security
   applications. Specifically, I am interested in further understanding how people
   control access to their resources through the design, creation and implementation
   of policy for both individual devices and larger environments.

   ·   Researching the usability of discretionary access control systems.
   ·   Looking at policy creation design and implementation as well as how usability of
       access-control systems impacts security.

   IBM Research Intern                                                May. 2007 - Sep. 2007
   IBM Research TJ Watson, Hawthorn, NY
   ·   Conducted research on the design of an interface to support the composition of
       machine readable privacy policies using natural language.
   ·   Implemented a new authoring interface and ran a user study which evaluated its
       effect on policy authors' efficiency and accuracy.

   Center for Cyber Defenders Intern                                 June 2004 ­ Aug. 2004
   Sandia National Laboratories , Livermore, CA
   ·   Assisted in ongoing research activities involving network traffic analysis tools
       and security analysis of systems used by Sandia.
   ·   Did a full security analysis, red team, on several video conferencing systems
       with team of fellow students. Analysis included detecting and exploiting security
       holes in ftp, telnet, and web servers.
   ·   Assisted in the creation of a network sniffer/analysis tool designed to monitor
       network traffic passively and build profiles on each node.

   Undergraduate Research Assistant                                  April 2002 ­ June 2005
   Oregon State University , Corvallis, OR
   ·   Assisted with research on recommender systems including running studies to
       test new algorithms and creating web apps.
   ·   Integrated a search engine and a recommender system to test how users make
       use of recommendations while searching online.
   ·   Assisted in running several user studies on the effectiveness of new algorithms.

   Undergraduate Research Assistant                              June 2003 ­ Aug. 2003
   Columbia University ,New York, NY
   · Taught classes using Lego Mindstorms at a Harlem community center, an upper
      west side 6 th grade classroom and a pre-college program. Presented and taught
      the final curriculum at a workshop for teachers as part of Technology
      Integration Partnerships.
   · Personal duties included: designing curriculum, collaborating with teachers and
      other students, teaching classes/workshops and building a web page.
