From the east ­ Silver Spring/Prince Georges County
Take the Beltway, Rt. 495, outer loop, toward Baltimore , Bethesda, Frederick.
Take Rt 270 north toward Frederick Maryland
At Rt. 270, take exit 6 and go west on Darnestown Rd./Rt. 28
At the 3rd traffic light, turn left on Darnestown Road.
Continue west to the traffic light at the Key West Blvd. Intersection. Turn left.
Pass straight through the traffic light at Muddy Branch road.
The second right turn has a sign "U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Laboratory." Turn right
and proceed to the parking lot.
Sign in at the lobby of the second building, Building B.

From the North, Frederick Maryland
Take Rt. 270 south to exit 6 west, Darnestown Rd/Rt 28.
Turn right at the light.
At the second traffic light turn left on Darnestown Road.
Continue west to the traffic light at the Key West Blvd intersection, turn left.
Pass straight through the traffic light at Muddy Branch road.
The second right turn has a sign "U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Laboratory." Turn right
and proceed to the parking lot.
Sign in in the lobby of the second building, Building B.

From the West (Fairfax County/Northern Virginia
Take 495 Capital Beltway to Maryland
At the 270/495 divide, bear left to take 270 North.
Take Rt 270 north toward Frederick Maryland
At Rt. 270, exit 6 go west on Darnestown Rd./Rt. 28
At the 3rd traffic light, turn left on Darnestown Road.
Continue west to the traffic light at the Key West Blvd. Intersection. Turn left.
Pass straight through the traffic light at Muddy Branch road.
The second right turn has a sign "U.S. Consumer Product Safe ty Commission Laboratory." Turn right
and proceed to the parking lot.
Sign in at the lobby of the second building, Building B.

Alternative Route from I-270:
Take I-270 to exit 8 ­ Sam Eig Highway (I-370) and head west on I-370, then bear right
onto Great Seneca Highway where I-370 ends, then an immediate left at the next light on
to Muddy Branch Road and then a right at the next light, Darnestown Road. Second right
onto the lab driveway and proceed as above.

Here are three hotel/motel possibilities when staying at the lab.

Courtyard By Marriott

This is the closest one. It is off the Shady Grove Exit - going towards Rt. 28 (which is Darnestown Rd.).
To get to the CPSC Lab from the hotel, get on Shady Grove Road towards Rt. 28 (left turn). Get in right
lane. Turn right on Key West Parkway. Key West Parkway through the light at Great Seneca Highway.
Key West will go into Rt. 28 to the right (there is a traffic light) and stay on Rt.28 through the light at
Muddy Branch Rd. Our driveway is the second right turn after the Muddy Branch light (watch for the
CPSC sign) and come up the driveway into the parking lot.

Gaithersburg Hilton

This one is easy to find off Rt. 270. Get off Montgomery Village Exit - it will be the one that indicates
the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. Stay in the right hand lane. Turn right at Rt. 355 (Frederick
Ave.) The next right will be Perry Parkway and the hotel is on the right. (You can see the hotel from Rt.
270).
To get to the CPSC lab from the hotel, go up to Rt. 355 and make a left turn. Turn left at the light at Rt.
355 & Montgomery Village Ave. This is Quince Orchard Blvd. Stay on Quince Orchard five lights and
turn left on Great Seneca Highway. Go down Great Seneca Highway to the third light which is Muddy
Branch Rd. Turn right on Muddy Branch to Rt. 28 (Darnestown Rd.) and turn right onto Darnestown
Rd. Second right is driveway for the lab.

Holiday Inn - Gaithersburg

This one is also off Rt. 270. Get off Montgomery Village Ave. Exit and get in left lane. At light at
Montgomery Village Ave. and Rt. 355, turn left, get in right lane and make immediate right into Holiday
Inn parking lot.
Same directions as above to get to the lab. It is easier to get onto Montgomery Village Ave. from the
hotel instead of Rt. 355. When you cross Rt. 355, Montgomery Village Ave. changes to Quince Orchard
Blvd. Follow same directions as above
