Overview
With the constant evolution of oncology research, it is a significant challenge for community-based
hematologists/oncologists to stay abreast of the most effective myelodysplastic syndrome treatment
paradigms. Tumor board-styled dinner meetings have been proven as valuable, educational tools that
enable cancer care professionals to assimilate the latest trends in hematology, oncology, and stem cell
transplantation.

Hosted by Sacramento Center for Hematology and Medical Oncology, Inc., this certified CME/CE,
case-based dinner meeting offers cancer-care providers the benefits of tumor boards including the
opportunity to discuss difficult case vignettes presented by local physicians. The activity also features a
lecture by a guest faculty in myelodysplastic syndrome patient care. Participants will take
away a multidisciplinary opinion to assist in formulating and delivering optimal treatment strategies for
their patients.

Target Audience
This continuing medical education meeting is intended for community-based hematologists, medical and
surgical oncologists, and fellows. Internists, general/family practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physician
assistants, and mid-level practitioners involved in the care of myelodysplastic syndrome patients are
encouraged to attend.

                    myelodysplastic syndromes
                · Discuss the benefits of dosing strategies in myelodysplastic syndrome patient care
              · Summarize current treatment practices for patients with myelodysplastic syndromes
Method of Instruction
This meeting will be comprised of a lecture from a national expert in the field of myelodysplastic
syndromes and two to four patient case-presentations provided by local physicians. Participants will have
the opportunity to discuss both the cases and challenging patient management issues with the expert
presenters and their colleagues.
