Food Drive
Coordinator's Instructions
Philabundance will pick up donations of 300 pounds or more that are collected in
approximately 10 medium sized boxes. Less than 10 boxes can usually be handled in a
car, and dropped off at 302 W. Berks Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122. Please contact
Robin Moore, our Transportation Coordinator, at (215) 339-0900, ext. 232 to schedule a
pick-up, or to let us know when you will be dropping off your donation.
Please pack the food in sturdy, medium sized boxes. The boxes don't need lids or to be
taped shut. Please try to stagger the sizes of the cans so the boxes all weigh
approximately the same. Please don't use bags--they rip easily, are difficult to handle,
and can't be stacked. You may, however, fill a box with bagged food. Liquor and
grocery stores are often a good source for sturdy boxes.
We prefer not to have product in glass. However, if someone brings glass, please pack
those foods in a separate box and label it "Glass". Please discard any opened
packages or perishable foods as they are donated. We cannot use them, and they may
contaminate the other products.
Do not put monetary donations in with the food donations. Please mail any monetary
donations to our office at the following address: Philabundance, P.O. Box 37555,
Philadelphia, PA 19148-7555.
If you would like to get your group further involved, set aside a time at the end of the
food drive to sort the food by type and then mark the boxes clearly.
Thank you for organizing a food drive for Philabundance.
We appreciate your efforts to help us fight hunger in the Delaware Valley.
