Alcohol and Drug Council to host `Recovery Month' town hall forum
September is National Recovery Month and the Alcohol and Drug Council of
Middle Tennessee will host a town hall meeting on September 7th. The event
"Breaking the Cycle- Reducing the Stigma" will be open to the public. The
purpose of the forum is to illustrate that recovery from addiction is possible,
celebrate people and families in recovery from substance abuse and to bring
awareness to the stigmas that may present barriers to treatment.
Hosted and moderated by Demetria Kalodimos of WSMV, a series of local
notable speakers will present their stories, both personal and professional, with a
question and answer session to follow. Keynote speaker will be Commissioner
Kenneth Robinson of the Health Department. Also speaking will be Sheriff Daron
Hall, Lynn Noland, Peggy Reynolds and Terri Eddlemon. Each speaker will have
their own topic and focus related to addiction, treatment and recovery.
The event will be held Thursday, September 7th from 9:30 a.m. until noon with an
open reception preceding the speakers . For more information on the event or

Drug Council of Middle Tennessee, (615) 269-0029 ext 101 or at
