STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO THINK ABOUT "WHAT'S NEW!"
Ideas are the lifeblood of any entrepreneurial economy. New ideas foster innovation and economic
growth through entrepreneurial enterprises. Imagine the potential economic impact for the future of the
United States if our students had opportunities to learn how to be entrepreneurs as a part of their standard
education.

With the emergence of a strong Global economy it is important for the future of the United States to
emphasize entrepreneurial thinking. This encourages creating jobs as opposed to depending on existing
ones. Other countries are more efficient with regard to manual labor and repetitive jobs. These functions,
although necessary, don't generate much personal wealth. For the benefit of its citizens and the US
economy as a whole, entrepreneurial thinking must be nurtured for continued growth and success.

The second annual recognition of National Entrepreneurship Week 2008, established by US House of
Representatives Resolution 699, occurs February 23 through March 1. This week is a celebration of
American entrepreneurs and the educational programs currently preparing their future counterparts. Its
purpose is to generate passion toward entrepreneurship as a viable career option in the competitive Global
market. Educators are invited to participate in special events held locally, and nationwide, to introduce
their students to opportunities to become self reliant and develop entrepreneurial skills.

An excellent example of new creative thinking, with an entrepreneurial mindset, is the story of Grayson
Rosenberg, provided by The National Museum of Education in Akron, OH. Mr. Rosenberg identified a
need for an inexpensive substitute for prosthetic limb covers for third world countries. Through creative
use of Bubble Wrap© Mr. Rosenberg fashioned "life like" shapes to cover traditional basic artificial
limbs. His affordable covers go a long way in helping third world amputees assimilate into their
communities. A very impressive story considering the fact that Mr. Rosenberg is currently 15 years old.
This is one of many stories about young entrepreneurs now available in "Future CEO Stars, the magazine
of the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education.

This monthly theme featuring National Entrepreneurship Week is "NEW IDEAS for a NEW
GENERATION. Entrepreneurial thinking is an essential ingredient for every community to replace the
jobs that are going to other countries because of low labor costs. Congratulations to those who are
encouraging our youth to think of NEW IDEAS as part of their education. For more information and to
