Subject: FW: Synthesis report comments
Dear CO2 Working Group:
At this morning's meeting we had a discussion concerning NOAA's Unified Synthesis
Report (USP) and our continuing efforts to comment on the fact that only 11 of the 21
reports(last: SAP 3.1 on Jul 31) have been issued; thereby making comments impossible.
Attached is our letter requesting NOAA to withdraw its comments until all of the reports
are public and capable of being commented on. Many of you also filed comments asking
for withdrawal or for an extension of time.
A few days ago I received a call from the administration informing me that, while they
will not withdraw the notice for comments, it will in the next several weeks file another
Federal Register notice providing for comment when all of the synthesis reports are
public.
This is all we could ask for is the right to comment. This is a victory and I want to
personally thank all of you for your comments, help and action on this crucial issue of
getting the science right before we make trillion dollar decisions.
Thanks again and best wishes,
Bill Kovacs
