Guinness Recognizes Popcorn Ball as Record Setter

On June 28th, a letter was received from the Guinness World Records stating the following:

"I'm pleased to inform you that you have been successful in setting a new Guinness World
Record under the category of `Largest Popcorn Ball'. A certificate to commemorate this
achievement is enclosed.
Details of this record have been entered into our records database as follows: The largest
popcorn ball weighed 3, 100 lb. and was made by 40 volunteers at the Noble Popcorn Farm,
Sac City, Iowa USA on 12 June 2004.
Although this certificate does not automatically guarantee an entry in our annual book, our
managing editors do consider all new records for potential use in future Guinness World Re-
cords publications and products.
Once again welcome to the very select brand of Guinness World Records holders!" The let-
ter was signed by Laura Baker, Records Research Services.
        Guinness's web site is www.guinnessworldrecords.com.

If you'd like to see the popcorn ball, it is resting in its new home at the Sac City Museum site
on Highway 20. A building was constructed especially to house the big ball and it was quite a
feat to move it into its new home. Thousands of people stopped during the Sac City Sesqui-
centennial to view the sticky mass.

This is just another one of Sac County's value added products!!
