POSITION DESCRIPTION
Senior Infrastructure Specialist
The Company
Canadian Hydro Developers, Inc. ("CHD") is Canada's premier independent producer of
green power, focusing on environmental stewardship and growth, empowering

goal is to exit 2011 with 900 MW of green power plants in production and have an
inventory of at least 1,632 MW to foster future growth. CHD is a publicly traded

CHD is a developer, owner, and operator of 20 renewable energy generation facilities
totalling net 364 MW in operation. In addition, CHD is in or nearing construction on an
additional 10 projects representing 517 MW of installed capacity with an aggregate
capital cost of up to $1 billion. The renewable generation portfolio is diversified across
three technologies (water, wind, and biomass) in the provinces of British Columbia,
Alberta, Ontario and Québec. This portfolio is unique in Canada as all facilities are
certified, or slated for certification, under Environment Canada's EcoLogoM Program.

The Title
Senior Infrastructure Specialist
Note: this position is for a term of 6 months, possibly leading to a longer term contract or
employment. There will be a review of the position after 3 months.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the IT Manager.
Responsible for developing, supporting and completing Corporate IT projects, Project
Management, and senior infrastructure design, support and administration
Works directly with the IT Manager and all other IT staff,

Complete all IT related projects and initiatives including the design, execution, delivery
and administration/support of projects as assigned, act as Project Manager on occasion.
In addition; ensure that all projects are implemented with careful design, testing, change
controls, backout procedures, communication plans and ensure minimal disruptions to
the business and its employees.
Assist the current IT team in support of the IT infrastructure at the senior level, and
provide assistance in developing long term IT related goals and systems.
Assist the current IT team to develop and implement IT systems that align with CHD's
strategic plan; proactively develop, implement and maintain existing and future IT
systems to ensure minimum disruption and downtime; oversee all and, when necessary,
provide, IT support.
Key Functions
Ensuring CHD receives the best IT service and solutions, balancing the needs of
the end users and best practices, while maintaining the Company's
entrepreneurial spirit;
Ensuring IT systems are reliable, effective, efficient, secure and recoverable;
Clearly and effectively communicating all IT matters to end users in an easy-to-
understand manner;
Ensuring the IT plan is scalable and provides simple and effective solutions to
users;
Work with the IT manager regularly to ensure that the state of IT systems are
secure, operating optimally and are always easily recoverable.
Work with the IT manager on preventative maintenance, issues, follow up on
past issues, progress towards goals set out in IT plan.
Work with IT manager on change controls and change management to always
ensure that any disruptions to the business are planned, scheduled,
communicated and minimal.
Be responsible for the overall accountability of the relationship with the various
offices IT supports in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and other
provinces as required.

Location
Based at the corporate head office in Calgary, Alberta, but may be required to travel to
the Company's field offices on occasion, including: Vancouver, Grande Prairie, Pincher

Education
Undergraduate degree or college diploma in information technology is preferred;
however, demonstrated previous experience is more important. In addition, the following
certifications are an asset:
Microsoft Certified Professional;
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer;
Certified Information Systems Security Professional;
Certified Citrix Administrator; and
Juniper and Cisco certifications.
Experience and Skills
10 or more years of proven and progressive experience in designing and
supporting IT systems for medium to large sized companies;
Previous experience with: Windows Server 2003, Lynksys routers and devices,
Juniper and Netscreen devices, APC UPS Symmetra, MX Logic spam service,
SCADA systems, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 Server,
Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.1, Microsoft Active Directory 2003/2008, Microsoft
