Dear NJIT Family:
Welcome! We are pleased that you have chosen to join the ever growing Highlander Family! To officially
welcome you, we are inviting you to attend the NJIT Family Orientation on Saturday, August 30. New
resident students will move into the residence halls on this day in the morning, and all First Year Students
will attend the Highlander Welcome Days 2008 events in the afternoon. At the end of both programs,
everyone will meet for a NJIT Highlander Family Dinner!
The NJIT Family Orientation is run like a mini-conference with a welcome and general information session
followed by a choice of three workshops / information sessions. The schedule is as follows:
1:15pm Welcome to NJIT
Campus Center "Welcome" - Jack Gentul, Dean of Students
Ballroom "Making the Transition" Sharon Morgan, Associate Dean,
Center for First Year Students
2:15pm, 3:00pm & 3:45pm Sessions I, II and III (choose one each session)
Campus Center "The Challenges of Being a Commuter" Commuter Assistance
Resource Services (CARS)
"They're Moved In - Now What?" - Residence Life and Meal Plans
"Academic Success" Center for Academic & Professional Enrichment
"NJIT Campus Safety" Department of Public Safety
"What to Expect the First Year" - Center for First Year Students
4:30pm - 6:00pm Highlander Family Dinner
For First Year Students and their families!
The enclosed Highlander Welcome Days 2008 program also on Saturday, August 30, is required for all
First Year Students and features community information meetings for commuters and resident
students, and fun activities planned to help students become acquainted with NJIT. Students are
encouraged to attend all of the Highlander Welcome Days activities beginning August 30 which include
athletic events, campus festivals, New Student Convocation, Freshmen Tech Games and much more!
We have also enclosed our postcard for NJIT Day 2008: Red White & Wild! Please mark your calendars
now for Saturday, October 11 and join us for a fun-filled day & night of activities, including a carnival
and rides, for the entire family!
We hope that you will join us for NJIT's Family Orientation on Saturday, August 30. Please feel free to
