Tunable Laser Source
SRI International (Menlo Park, CA) and the Gas Technology Institute (Des Plaines, IL) have
jointly developed a proprietary technology for widely tunable continuous-wave laser
sources. The technology is based on the Diode Oscillator/Fiber Amplifier (DO/FA*)
approach. The radiation of a narrowband tunable diode laser is amplified up to one thou-
sand times in a diode pumped fiber amplifier (see figure at right). With a combination of
optional modules, spectral coverage between 0.5µm and 2µm is achieved.
