Ray Sun was named managing director for Business Development and Venture Investment for Great
China as part of the Corporate Business Development group of Applied Materials in November 2007,
where he is responsible for identifying, recommending and managing new business opportunities and
venture capital investments in the Great China region. He also serves as the head of regional
marketing for Applied Materials China.

Prior to his current position, Sun served as general manager of a strategic semiconductor account in
China from November 2001 to November 2007, where he developed and managed a team
supporting the customer account, witnessing a record year for the customer in 2004.

Prior to joining Applied Materials, Sun served as a managing partner and representative of North
America for Global Investment Management, Inc., a Taiwan venture capital firm, from 1999 to
November 2001. Previous to that he ran his own consulting partnership raising capital and assisting
in the development of start-up companies from 1998 to 1999. From 1996 to 1998, he served as a
founding member, board director and vice president of Business Development at Storm Technology,
Inc. in Silicon Valley. Sun was one of the early founding members of Primax Electronics Ltd., a
Taiwan company, where he served as vice president of the Computer Business Group, and then
president and board director of the company's U.S. subsidiary.

Sun is a board director and auditing board member of Alliance Fiber Optics Products, Inc., a fiber
optical component company. He received a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from
Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan and a master of science degree in industrial engineering
from Kansas State University at Manhattan, Kansas.
