When is Red Bull Soapbox Race Philadelphia?
The big event is September 6th, 2008. The pits open at 11:00 AM, with first race scheduled for
1:00 PM. Award ceremonies are expected to take place around 3:30 PM.
Where is it?
The event is taking place down "The Wall" in Manayunk just west of Center City Philadelphia
on Levering St. and Lyceum Ave. between Cresson St. and Pechin St.. The pit area will be at
the top of the course on Lyceum Ave. between Manayunk Ave. and Pechin St. where you can
view the crafts and mingle with the teams beginning at 11:00 AM before they line up in
procession to the starting line at 12:30 PM.

Is 100% FREE to the public and open to all ages!
Yes, there will be road closures...
Main Street will remain open for the duration of the event.
Thursday 9/4/08
10 AM - Partial closure on west curb lane of Levering St. and Lyceum Ave. between
Cresson St. and Manayunk Ave. Parking will be available on the east side of the street.
Partial closure on west curb lane and 2 adjacent travel lanes on Lyceum Ave. between
Manayunk Ave. and Pechin St. Parking will not be available on this section of street in
order to accommodate an open travel lane on east side of the street.
Friday 9/5/08
7 PM Total closure of the entire course from Cresson St. to Pechin St. on Levering St.
and Lyceum Ave. except all cross streets. No parking will be available until 7pm
Saturday night on these streets.
Saturday 9/6/08
4 AM All cross streets on course closed to through traffic. Parking will be available on
cross streets, but cars will not be able to cross course (Levering St. and Lyceum Ave.
from Cresson St. to Pechin St.).
6 AM Cresson St. closed one block east and one block west of Levering St.
7 PM East side of street on entire venue reopens (Levering St. and Lyceum Ave. from
Cresson St. to Pechin St.). Parking will be available on east side of street.
Sunday 9/7/08
12 PM Entire venue will be reopen and be back to normal for parking.
What you can expect on site
There will be food and beverage concession stands within the event site at Lot C at Main St. and Levering
St. at the bottom of the course, Tower St. and Levering St. in the middle of the course and Lyceum Ave.
and Manayunk Ave. at the top of the course. There are also local restaurants and convenience stores near
by with ATMs. The vendors at the event will only take cash.
The event is open seating so get there early to reserve a spot!
No open containers will be allowed in he event venue.
ADA viewing areas will be on the site at the top of the course near the start ramp and at the bottom of the
course in Lot C, though the areas tend to fill up very quickly. It's first-come, first-seated.
What will the show be like?
The live show promises to be a huge hit, complete with nationally recognized announcers and
celebrities and athletes as judges. The pre-event show will feature Red Bull drag racing
champion Gary Gardella in his show car and Red Bull stunt bike rider Aaron Couton.

Where do I park?
Parking is available in three Manayunk Development Corporation Parking Lots Lots A, B and
D all accessed off of Main St. Parking will fill up very quickly. Please utilize Septa rail and bus
services (www.septa.com) and taxis as well as carpooling and alternative transportation. Bike
racks will be available at the event, but are used at your own risk.
