THE PERSECUTION OF ROYAL DUTCH SHELL
         WHISTLEBLOWER, DR JOHN HUONG
EIGHT companies within the Royal Dutch Shell Group, all multinationals in their own right, have for almost
two years collectively bombarded former Shell geologist, Dr John Huong, with High Court proceedings in
respect of alleged defamatory postings on Shell related websites owned and operated by *Alfred
Donovan. In fact, as Shell is well aware, Dr Huong has never posted a single word on the relevant
websites. However, Shell seems hell bent on destroying him at all costs.

Shell management apparently has no comprehension of how badly it looks to the outside world when such
draconian action is taken collectively by EIGHT giant Shell companies against one unemployed
Malaysian? It is potentially another huge PR disaster in the making if Shell's persistent intimidation pushes
Dr Huong over the edge. He was already suffering from stress when Shell sacked him on false grounds.

Dr Huong has in fact been deluged by legal proceedings by Shell. They started in June 2004 with a High
Court Writ, a Restraining Order and an interim Injunction. In the last few weeks, Shell has stepped up the
intimidation by issuing a "NOTICE TO SHOW CAUSE" requiring him to provide evidence why he should
not be jailed or fined for contempt. The legal notice was served on him on 15th March 2006 in the midst of
the hearing of his claim against Shell for wrongful dismissal. On 19th April 2006 Shell issued more legal
proceedings, this time a further Restraining Order which was served on him at his home in the dark of
night: an underhand tactic presumably designed to intimidate him and his family. The legal documents
served on him were over an inch thick. (Shell management seems to have developed a taste for jailing
anyone who dares to stand up for their rights. Five courageous Irishman were imprisoned for three
months last year at the behest of Shell after campaigning against Shell in respect of the Corrib pipeline
project in Ireland. That project is now held up indefinitely because of the colossal PR blunder by Shell.)

The avalanche of court proceedings against Dr Huong has resulted in the absurd situation
whereby he is under threat of being jailed if he supplies information to Alfred Donovan and under
threat of being jailed if he doesn't. Further information can be found on ShellNews.net.

THE RESERVES SCANDAL: Dr Huong wrote to his supervisor to register his deep moral reservations
about providing information which would seriously mislead Shell shareholders over the reserves volume.
This was in relation to the computer reservoir engineering model for the Kinabalu Field. A Shell document
contained the following comment by Dr Huong after he had raised in writing his ethical reservations about
the calculation of reserves volume. "How can we live a day with a free conscience by getting the
money from our investors through the 502F when our depositional model work is in question?"
shellnews.net has a copy of the relevant incriminating Shell internal document.

HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES: On 7 July 2003, Dr Huong sent an email to Sir Phillip Watts (the then
Chairman of Royal Dutch/Shell) and Dominique Gardy, a director of Shell E & P. He also copied it to Jon
Chadwick, Country Chairman of Shell Malaysia. The email contained a detailed warning of Dr Huong's
concerns over the safety of the Shell helicopter fleet which fell within his responsibilities. His email and
associated evidence were unwelcome and ignored. The helicopter safety cover-up has haunted Dr Huong
ever since. The concerns expressed by Dr Huong (and other Shell staff in related *internal emails) were
unfortunately vindicated by a helicopter crash which occurred in June 2005 involving a helicopter in the
same fleet. These are just two examples of the issues of conscience which concerned Dr Huong.

shellnews.net owner, *Alfred Donovan, has had business dealings with Shell stretching back almost 50 years. In the 1980's & 90's the
sales promotion company he founded with his son, John (Don Marketing) created and supplied multimillion dollar national promotions
for Shell on an international basis. He and his son probably hold the world record for suing Shell, having subsequently brought a se-
ries of court actions: five for breach of confidence or breach of contract (after Shell stole ideas disclosed in confidence) and two for
libel. They have never lost a case against Shell. Details about the litigation are published on shellnews.net, the unique website owned
by Alfred Donovan. It contains the world's largest collection of Shell news articles, Shell insider revelations and leaked Shell docu-
ments astonishingly, over 8,500 web pages all focused on Shell. Mr Donovan owns and uses the registration to the dotcom domain
name for Shell's unified $223 billion (USD) company: Royal Dutch Shell Plc (royaldutchshellplc.com). Shell made an unsuccessful
attempt to seize it by instituting proceedings via the World Intellectual Property Organisation in May 2005. A WIPO panel gave a
unanimous verdict in favour of Mr Donovan in August 2006.: This leaflet was authored, designed, published and circulated by Shell-
