The United Nations Office in Vienna seeks female and male candidates to serve as Security Officers in the
Vienna International Centre. Duties will include security screening, protecting property, conducting patrols
and responding to emergencies.
Education: Completed secondary education or a first level degree in criminal justice or security
management required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience with a civilian police force, the military police
or other relevant military experience required, or a first level university degree with a
minimum of 18 months experience in the security field
Preferred age range: 22 to 32 years
Medical standard: Excellent physical and mental condition
Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other official languages of the
Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian Spanish) and of German is an asset.
Recruitment will be made on a local basis. Candidates must undergo a written test, interviews and a
medical examination including psychological testing in Vienna. Candidates will be responsible for any
travel expenses incurred in order to undergo prescreening in Vienna. Employment is initially offered on a
short-term basis with a possibility of extension based on performance. Candidates will be appointed at the
G-3 level. Applicants with at least two years of related service as a staff member in the United Nations
common system may be appointed at the G-4 level.
